Since forming Aber Students Against Cuts, we’ve taken a variety of action. Below is a brief timeline of events. Click links for more information about each event.

  • Autumn 2010: ASAC formed by students in opposition to announced changes to education funding.
  • 10th November, 2010: We march in the NUS Demolition March in London.
  • 24th November, 2010: Aberystwyth March, birth of the Free University.
  • 9th December, 2010: We march in the demonstration in London.
  • 12th December, 2010: Candle-Lit Vigil mourning the death of Higher Education.
  • 13th December, 2010: 1st Occupation of A12 Lecture Theatre.
  • 15th December, 2010: 1st Occupation concludes.
  • 29th January, 2011: NCAFC London March
  • 17th February, 2011: “Welcome to the Tax Haven” Barclays protest.
  • 22nd February, 2011: AUGS “Imagine the Future Demo”, where we lead the charge into Old College to make our united voice heard.
  • 22nd February, 2011: 2nd Occupation of A12/14 Lecture Theatres begins.
  • 18th March, 2011: Free University Social Forum in conjunction with UCU Strike in Wales.
  • 24th March, 2011: ASAC stands on the picket lines in solidarity with the UCU national strike
  • 26th March, 2011: 2nd Occupation of A12/14 Lecture Theatres concludes. Students head to London to March for the Alternative.
  • 7th May, 2011: Ceredigion Against The Cuts march to defend public services.
